Default '71 Ford F-100 rims on '40 Ford

Stupid question, but going to ask anyway: Will 15" rims (don't recall width) from a '71 F-100 present any problems being used on a '40 passenger car? Offset issues or rubbing on suspension components? Currently have 3 such rims (5"x5 lugs if I'm not mistaken) sitting in my parent's garage about to go up for estate sale this weekend, and debating if I want to hang onto them for rollers for my '40 V8 Tudor project. Like I don't have enough junk lying around right now with everything I've dragged out of their place.

I have run 15" steel wheels from F-100 & F-150's and the offset works
good for '40 Ford cars and pickups. They are 5 lug & 5 1/2" bolt pattern
and used all the way up to 1996 1/2 ton Ford pickups.
Try to find 15" wheels that measure 5.5" inside bead to inside bead,
or 6" inside bead to inside bead for width. The small hubcaps should
to be 10 1/8" from 1949 & newer cars OR be from 1967 to 1996
Ford 1/2 ton pickups.
Here is a picture of how to measure 5 bolt wheel lug bolt pattern.

Ditto the comments in the above quote.

The big difference between the '40-66 1/2 ton wheels, that can be 16" or 15", and the '67-94, 15", is inside knobs vs out knobs for the hub caps and rim width from 4.5" to 6.5". The later pickup wheels generally will be F150 HD type.

Look for KH or Ford stamped into the wheel, generally on the back side or adjacent to the stem opening.

Dodge and/or Jeep wheels can look very similar to the Ford, but they are different.
There is a whole 'science' to wheels that most people do not understand. Many of the OEM manufactures design their wheels so that some of the weight is carried on the lug bolts, the majority is carried on the center hub, therefore it is important that the wheel fits the hub and the bolt pattern.

The majority of the aftermarket wheels are made to fit multiple vehicles, which places the weight on the lug bolts in lieu of distributing the weight over the whole assembly. GM has generally been very keen on this system, Ford has not, except on 3/4 ton and above.

have and have used several sets of these rims "as rollers" and recently sold a 40 sedan that has had them on and in use since the late 70's

I ran a set on a '40 Tudor for years. Worked well.
