Cool Who Knew??

Yesterday, I went to O'reilly to get a new in-line fuel filter. My old one was a NAPA 3003 and the new one is a Wix 33003. When I looked at the outlet end on both filters is says, "RUSSIAN FEDERATION RUSSIE RUSA"!

If these are made where I think they are, it's a new one on me!!!!

It's getting g harder and harder to find "made in USA" anymore, and it is our own people doing it to us. Profit is number one, nothing else matters. Low cost=high profit. How are they going to sell what they sell, if no one has a job to make money to buy goods? We need the jobs to come back to the USA!

You are right but its not just the drive for high profits its the consumer drive for a cheap product as well . If the consumer was prepared to pay for good quality the market would supply good quality but we aren't prepared to pay. As my economics professor said Quality ,Price , Quantity you can have any two but not all three. Unfortunately the consumer normally passes on quality (and then grizzles about it -me included ) Karl .

The quest to increase profits is driven by shareholders (retirees).

Flamingo..........That is BS!! Please explain how you think retirees are driving the market. We are trying to keep up with inflation while living on SS and fixed pensions. So, again, please explain your rationale or slink into the shadows..

I just got a Wix metal inline filter from Oreilly's last week and it's made in the USA. U.S.A. is printed on the box and the metal filter.

You don't mention that you have any investments or investment income. I hope your SS and FIXED pension remain liquid for the duration of your remaining retirement years. DD

Used to be a company's business was to provide a product or service; now it seems most company's primary business is growth with the product or service secondary.

Not sure the companies have changed, profit was always the goal. The consumer is willing to except poorer quality than in the past. There was a time when consumers wouldn't stand for what we take for granted now. As long as we will pay for poorer and poorer quality goods they will be sold and the higher quality places go out of business for lack of business.

Jseery is right on the money i think.
The issue isnt where the product is made but the lack of quality control and that we expect and accept a poor product.
If you ship of an original product to china and tell them to make a copy for half the money...you get what you ask for...
Unfortunately QC cost money so it is not as good as it used to be...
And when you buy that 1.99 piece that fails...throwing it in the garbage swearing instead of going back an returningin it....you just makes the lowpriced garbage parts working for the seller.
Whatever doesnt work return it and tell the seller what you think of it !
If a partsdealer get a damn negative feedback he stops selling it.

Was a time when they were run by people who wanted to produce the best product and personal profit was a beneficial side affect they had an interest in retaining. Nowdays they only care about the profit and nothing more. (Possibly because they cannot afford to care anymore)
