Chief would build a FIRE just aft of the HORSE, he'd get up pronto!
Also, if you don't like a supplier, just stop wasting paper, writing about them here, "JUST TOTALLY IGNORE THAT SUPPLIER"--He'll get the MESSAGE by lookin' in his "TILL" ($$$$$$$$$$'s not there)

What is strange is that Mac's has a representative right here on the Barn Forum. He has posted about other things, but has never defended or commented about the reported poor quality. (That I know of.)

You would think he would be all over this subject.

Me? I'm 0 for 1 with Macs. Very poor front spring made in Brazil.. Quite an ordeal to get refund.

Just ordered two radius nuts. $56.00 US. including the shipping. USPS. Nice box. Could have sent it in an envelope?

So now Mac's will be a last resort.

I appreciate anyone who is warning others about a problem with suppliers, IF they have already made the supplier in question AWARE of the problem and have NOT gotten reasonable satisfaction.

Badmouthing a supplier without discussing the problem with them first is not fair. Piling on is not necessary. There is ample evidence that there are complaints against some suppliers and producers of parts.

I agree with Ted Duke's comments. Given that I have a limited amount of time and money, I like to know about good and bad sources of parts. This is the same reason that Angie's List has become a big deal.

Have never bought from Mac's but have had good service from Mike, Snyder and Bert, just to give a few kudos.

I have taken advantage of Mac's Wacky Deals and have had no problems or issues with the service or the delivery of anything I've ordered.

For the record, I have had no problems with A suppliers, including Mac's, and if I had, they would have heard about it FIRST!

Just one (1) opinion:

Nothing like good old time American Free Speech and sincere, wonderful and honest U. S. Citizens just sharing both their good and bad Model A experiences .............. I love it.

He who has his mouth sealed with Dictator's duck tape can never quack in public ...... we have far too many cowards not quacking today.

Mr. Kevin Marsh, you are a true patriot and a gentleman, and I commend your expressing your rights to explain exactly how you feel about ordering Model A parts.

Hope this makes you feel better.

OOOOOPS!!!!!!!!!!!! Senior Moment....DOH!!!!

Sorry Mike, it is Mike's Wacky Deals I get, not Macs. Now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever ordered from Mac's so I can't comment. either way.

I wanted a couple of Mac's data plate rivet sets. Very small item. I worked up the order on the internet and it said the shipping was $9.00. The total parts only came to $4.70. I called Mac's and asked the lady if they could just slip the rivets sets in a padded envelope and sent it 1st class. She told me that "They don't use padded envelopes and that $9.00 was the min. shipping charge". Maybe that's an incentive to buy more "stuff" to justify the shipping charges.
On a positive note, I've ordered parts from Mac's a couple of time and had no problems except for shipping costs.

Whenever i see a complaint about poor products i always print the comment out and show it to the sourcing department to show them what kind of products we're getting for these vendors. We need to do a better job on sourcing from these vendors. Any kind of complaint i see on here or our Facebook page i pass it along to the correct department so they can see what kind of impact forums and social media have on our business. Trust me i hate seeing threads like this more than anyone. It gets me fired up when i go into meeting and pushing for change. I also own classic cars and i hate it when i get the run around from suppliers.

Thanks Scott and i feel for you having to talk and attempt to get change from a wall.. unfortunately it seems the company is to large to care or even listen and it is what it is.. just hang in there and collect your pay check, if the ownership doesnt care how can its employees care without getting frustrated. i recently received an e-mail from the wholesale dept on the GREAT new changes coming for quantity discounts to shops. thats another failed policy setting minimiums and tiers. how can you set tiers when Macs sourcing quality as you stated sucks. i feel bad your in this position but you continue to plug along and answer questions to help our friends on this forum. maybe one day the ownership blinders will fail just like their parts and things will improve...
i wish you the best of luck on your endeavors

H.L., don't you think that the Model "A" parts business is so unique, that it only works best when conducted by people that share a love for old cars? Operating it as just a profit-making enterprise is going to be cumbersome. When calling, you need phone access to people that are acquainted with the quirks of these cars. Many repro parts are going to disappoint and will get returned. Can you imagine yourself going into a hobby business that you had no interest in?

I for one appreciate knowing who is giving problems and who is not.
Please keep us informed!

I never had a problem with Bratton's. They always come through with flying colors.
