Default First show

Well, at least under my ownership. My wife and I entered my '29 Special Coupe in our local town's (Canton, NC) Labor Day car show. The car got more attention than our '64 Buick that we normally enter. Many thought it was a cleaned up barn find, possibly due to the dust/dirt/cobwebs on the chassis. I suppose that she is a barn find since she spent 13 or the last 14 years neglected in my dad's barn, following a repaint in 2001.

I was actually going to try and be at that show this year, I have a vacation home in Clyde, couldn't get away at the last minute, be sure to look for you next year...

BTW, nice looking car.

Doesn't matter, driving there and back makes you a winner.

I didn't even register. I met a friend and his family for lunch and we arrived a couple of hours late to the show. I had several people who would have voted for me if I would have registered. I go to the shows to look at other cars and to share information with others. One of the most enjoyable discussions was with a boy in his late teens who's family had a '27 Model T at the show. Its good to see some young kids getting interested in old cars.

I usually enter my roadster in the local Fathers Day show but skipped it this year. Sit there all day wondering if I will make the 5 mile trip home.....

It's unfortunate that many kids my age aren't interested in old cars like me. I understand this hobby isn't for everyone but it has surprisingly taught me skills that I can apply outside the hobby. These skills being something as simple as patience and dedication... Maybe I can get my friends hooked when I get my car on the road, but I doubt it.
