Re: 5 25 023.jpg
Your intake manifold appears to be either 34 or early 35. IMO don't use the Carb. pictured . Get a Stromberg 48 or 97. The 97 will give you a bit better gas mileage. Max Musgrove is the Stromberg repair technician and a member here he can supply a rebuilt used or a new 97.
Changing to an original 33 intake and the Detroit Lubricator is going to add a LOT of other changes! The changes will cost a bit of cash and will not give better performance! Your going to need original fuel pump $$$ and rebuild, new fuel line to the Carb., Rebuild to the Detroit Lubricator $$, Plus after install you have to tune the Carb. Given your distributor cap had fellen off and the state of the Carb. there has to be several other problems with the car. Getting the car to run better and handle properly should be your first concern along the way your going to have to have other things properly rebuilt of replaced. Plus while doing all this you can learn more about your car and become a more informed buyer of early parts for your car. Last edited by Terry,OH; 05-26-2023 at 07:03 AM. |

I agree that the DLs belong on the concourse or perhaps like DavidG, very occasional driving of a 1000 point car, not something you want to drive often.

Re: 5 25 023.jpg
I "somewhat" disagree with you Deuceroadster. We ran a DL on our 32 for over 6 years, granted we didn't drive the car every week BUT we did several 75 mile tours (Including a 6 month stay out in California in 2005 climbing large hills and mountains) and drove it to local shows and such, When the DL is redone correctly, It ran and performed for Us flawlessly. The only issue we ever had with it was when it sat for a couple of months, the float would stick...A tap on the top of the float bowl before cranking with a rubber handled screwdriver was all It took, They are a good carburetor when functioning properly really run a 32 flathead nicely!!!!
