Default Tail Bracket, But For What???!

Hi - I found this tail bracket that was billed as a "1932 Station Wagon", but we already know that isn't true. Got the fact that it is a driver's side, "D-Pillar" bracket, a little bent, and pretty sure it's Ford as the Model A to '32 (and truck) taillight fit on it, and it came from a long-time Ford collector, but I am having trouble finding the application. Any one of my experts out there have any ideas? I sure would be appreciative.

Looks like 1940-'41 Sedan Delivery to me.

That looks exactly like the driver side taillight bracket on my 46 1.5 ton truck.

How long is it from the outer curve where the light attaches to the back side of the flat mounting bracket. If it is 7", it could be part number 77 13469-B, left side. Fits 48-54 F-6, F-600 and P 500 series vans and C series large trucks. It probably goes back in years for the truck lines.

I used to have a 40 sed del and that is definitely not for a sed del, they are kind of S shaped. Big truck is my guess.
It should have a part number cast in it, have you looked for one?

I'll be interested to see what it fits myself. I have one in my stash, never figured out what it was for, but probably truck. Merry Christmas.

I had one too and gave it to a friend, couldn't remember where it came from and now I remember, the ton and a half parts truck I had for my 40 tonner panel.

No Part number on this one. I have a mystery part number on another bracket: 01A18470. Any ideas there?

01A is 1940 and 13470 (not 18470) is a tail light bracket, can't find number in the green book.

So it looks like the "8" is actually a poorly struck "3", so it is a tail light bracket - Do you have a picture of that and its exact application(s)? It looks identical to 33-39 Woody brackets that I've seen on cars on the web. Could it be applicable to those as well, just manufactured in '40? I appreciate your time

NO, Ford kept the part number until the part changed. If a 1940 vehicle has a 1933 or 34 part on it the part number would begin with 40- if a 35 part 48- etc. an O1A- part was new on the 1940 model year vehicle and could have continued on. Many 1948 cars have 01A-parts on them.

That is helpful thank you. I figured as much on the first part, and I think I worded my question poorly - can you tell me the part number of a tail bracket for a 33-34, and is it possible that the tail brackets are identical, or would a change in part number only follow a change in design? I appreciate your time.

Actually - never mind. I think I answered my own question: 40-13470? The problem is that it looks like the one I have is correct in pics of wagons online.

The "green bible" lists replacement parts, that is why 01A-13470 was not found there. If you look in the 1940 chassis book it lists that part number 01A-13470 as fitting model 790 which is a station wagon, LH side. There must be some other number that you can't quite make out (or a misprint in the manual) as that is not a 40 wagon tail light bracket. I have a 40 wagon I restored, (EFV8 Dearborn 2014) and I can say for certain the bracket pictured doesn't go on a 40 wagon. Could you post pictures of the part number? It looks very much like what went on trucks.

My last post relates to the first pictures.
Your last picture IS a 40 wagon bracket, LH side.

Yes, 40-13470 would fit a 33 or 34 Station wagon Ford kept the 40 prefix for both 33 and 34 parts.
Passenger cars list the tail light and bracket as an assembly 40-13471
The brackets were listed separately only for the body styles that were different from the common passenger cars. I think a 34 Victoria has a different bracket.

I have an NOS one exactly like that (although it's straight - without the bends that seem to be from a hard life) marked with P/N 77-13469-B. The green book lists it ((Page 549, Bracket (rear lamp and license)-LHD)) - and I think folks use it in other applications as well. Green Book says '32 Station Wagon and Trucks except panel and dump '40-'47. It's for sale!!

I guess my question is, is the 01A-13470 exactly the same in appearance as the 40-13470?

I appreciate all the help you have given me!
