Default 52 Merc Rear Tires

I while back I mentioned to someone here that P235-70 tires would not fit on the rear of my 52 Merc. Apparently I was wrong because I installed a pair today. In fact switched the front and back wheels putting the 215-75s on the front and the 235-70s on the rear. I had to let the air out of the right rear even though it was jacked right up with the axle hanging by the spring. Left side went on easier and I think the difference might be that the left side has no shock absorber left on it. The car looks good with the big tires on the back.
