Default 1949 ford business coupe

So i have a chance to buy a 1949 ford business coupe, its basically a body and frame, no rear end no trunk lid, no motor no trans, no front clip, but the glass is good and the body relatively rust free, the guy also has a 1950 two door sedan, so a couple questions which is more desirable the coupe or the sedan, will the trunk lid fit from the sedan to the coupe, and would it be a poor choice to try to save the coupe???

Buy them both and build the coupe which is far more popular than the tudor. To my knowledge the decklids are the same on the coupe and tudor. The coupe just has a longer distance on the body from the bottom of the rear window to the front edge of the decklid. I think the fordor decklid is also the same.

Coupes generally command a higher popularity than the tudor sedans. A good straight & relatively rust free body is a prized item whether coupe or tudor. Someone is likely searching for one at any given time.

You are now entering the world of buying a car that needs a total restoration and is missing lots of vital parts. If you do buy it don't pay more than $100. It might be cheaper to buy one "all done" so do your homework. Save up more money and buy one that is running and is all there. 49-51 Fords are not that rare. You will be better off in the long run. For comparison, here's another money pit on ebay.

The certainly would be good replacement parts for a heavily corroded but more complete project car.

I also seem to remember that all deck lids were interchangeable.

Doors are also interchangeable between Coupe and Tudor, back seat backrest is also the same, Coupe seat cushion is slightly wider and a lot shorter front to back than the Tudor. Chris at Shoebox Central in Oklahoma has just about everything, shoebox-central.com for parts and ask any question on the forum. ..B.

Deck lids and doors are interchangeable as mentioned by others; both of those bodies look straight and solid - both winners........Bob L

I've always ave had a thing for old cars, the newest car i have owned personally is a 1974 dodge power wagon, and the oldest is a 1961 Pontiac Catilina, i am trying my best to keep as many of them from the crusher as possible..
