'33 Air Filter
How do I clean or replace the air filter element on a '33 Ford.
I can take the lid off, but I don't see how to remove the element. Thanks. |

Re: '33 Air Filter
If you are referring to the Holley version of the original air cleaner with a layer of dense cotton retained by a screen in the lid, Ford's instruction was to clean it by dipping it in gasoline. Obviously there are better, safer, solvents available today to use instead of gasoline. If you want to remove the screen to replace the cotton, you have to carefully un-crimp the tubular fastener retaining the screen.

It's a holley 94. And the element looks more like horse hair or steel wool. But I see that it will indeed have to be un-crimped to get it apart. Might be time to come up with a more creative solution using a modern element. Thanks, Al |
