Default FAR11001-A Starter. What is it for?

It looks like a 40 starter with the about 1 inch wide cast alum. drive end cover but it has attached a long light weight factory cable like for 12V. Also the coils inside seem small. The part no. is mysterious. I've had it for years and now I need one for a 40 6V 85 HP. Thanks for any replies.
