Default Finding Fordbarn members near you

Every so often there is a request for "any members here near xyz?"

Well there is a way,

If you go to Community on the front page of the forum,
select member list
search members
Advanced search
enter location

And a list of members will show up in that location, if they entered a location.

the recent trend that new members are following is to not give any location info at all. They are missing out.

I've done some searches and I'm in Illinois, OH BOY!!! am I in Illinois but, if I put in Illinois in an advance search, I don't come up. Larry Shepard in St Charles Mo is another one, he doesn't come up for Missouri, St Louis or St Charles.

There has just been a string of conversation on the Model T Ford Club of America about this same subject. Many of the posters have added their city to the name as it appears when you read the messages or at least to their profile. A good number of guys on that site use their real names also.

That is what I've noticed. The Advance Search doesn't go by profile address, if noted, but by the forum handle used.

you will get different results by entering the state abbreviation or by entering the full name.

Its only as good as the listing people give themselves. For those that spell out Carolina it seems to be good, but for the ones that used SC, you also get WiSConsin results.
Thanks for the info, Mike. I'd never done that search before.

It took me a couple of trys - here is what I was doing wrong - after I clicked on search members and the little box that you type in came up, and I put in a state and clicked on go and got nothing, I realized that the title (advanced search) under that box was a different button. When I went back and just clicked the words advanced search a whole new screen came up that allowed you to put in the state or other areas to search. It worked well after that.
