Default tires are cracking

Our Pepsi AA has tires that have been on since 1980 ... They have some sidewall cracking in the rubber .. the truck only does parades and car shows .. should I be concerned ?

No problem for parades etc. If they're small surface cracks no big deal. I assume you can't see any cords at the bottom of the cracks cause that could be a different story. Just dry and ozone/sun exposure, that's why you see covers on a lot of RV's that sit a long time. That my take.

I know it may sound dumb ('cause it was) but when I first got my coupe a couple of years ago, it had "new" tires on it. They had been bought in the late 70's, but they'd never been on the road. (long time restoration). Well shortly after I got it, I had it running so I rolled up some blankets for a seat (it had no interior) and had to wear my glasses as there was no windshield (or any other glass) in it either. The tires (Allstate) had cracks in the sidewalls as big as 1/8". But they held air real good so I started test driving it around out here in the country from time to time but I didn't go over 30 mph.

Reminded of my early teen years....Dumb & Fun.

By the way, I later replaced the tires & tubes and found that the original tubes are still in good shape.....still got 'em.
