Default Wanted; Adaptor SB Ford to Flattie 3 speed

City: Carlsbad
State: NM

I'm changing out the engine in my 52 F-1. Installing a 70 model 240ci six.

The original engine was unsalvageable due to a rod sticking thru something it shouldn't have.

It is my understanding that there is an adaptor that will enable me to put the 70 engine in against the 52 three speed column shift.

Any leads would be appreciated.

Ansen made adapter to put Small Block 289,302,351 V/8 Engines
That uses the Stock Ford Clutch Pedal, Linkage to Stock Throw out
Fork etc. But, since your using a I-6, I haven't ever heard of someone,
Doing that engine install. But, I think that since these later Engines
Used the same transmissions Ex 3- Spd & 4 Spd Trans it should Work.
But I don't know about the lengthy of the later Ford I-6 & how difficult
It's gonna be to install that motor in the 40's Cab. Ford did install I-4's
In 1940-41. In 1941 they started to installed I-6's. I know that the the Radiators
Are Different, Splash Pans, Front Lower Grill Pans, Radiator Support Brackets
To Grillare all Different. So, there's 3 different Brackets V/8, I-4, & I-6.
There is an Excellent small Booklet that was carried by the early Ford V/8
Club. The title was 2 great Ford Trucks By Townes. If memory is correct. This
Book shows pictures of these 3 Motors with these hard to find Splash Pans, &
Brackets. I bought my Ansen Trans adapter from Belmonts custom Speed Shop
Out of Mass. They are Cheaper than everyone else. I think I paid around
$150.00 he's sold around 3-4 in last 5-years.and he comes into them every so
Often. But, you need to know that Ansen made a Early/late adapter. There's. 5
Bolt & 6 Bolt Adapter. 1964-65 & 1966- Up. These Ansen adopters let you install
Ford Engines like the Offenhauser does for the Chevy Engines. Ex. Chevy II 153 C.I.
I-4, the Chevy 194 C.I. I-6, & Chevy V/8 256,283,350, etc. with stock ford
Clutch Linkage. I hope this info helps you out. Regards BiGDTexasKid.
