Default Can't message, Can't reply

It seems that I no longer have the right to send PMs to people on the Swap page. How are they supposed to sell their treasures if we cannot tell them we want to buy?
I tried to post a response to the seller on the Swap page and I was informed I couldn't post that message either.
I hope this message gets through.

I think here and the HAMB you have to have a minimum of 10 posts. Might be something like that here??

Thanks for the response. When did that happen. I have been away for a while, but I used to use the swap meet to buy parts all the time.

That is a link to Ryan's post about the subject. We have not been able to post a reply on the ads for about 10 years. You should be able to send an email or PM as you have been registered for more then enough time. Are or were you signed in when you tried to PM? What message were you getting that told you that you could not send reply ot PM or email? You should see your handle on the right side in the header. If you are still having problems try sending an email to Ryan, it might get to him.
I sent Ryan a heads up on this subject.

Life got in the way and I have not been very active for the last couple of years. According to my PM Inbox, the last PM I sent was 10-30-2018 and I have a total of 95 messages in my Inbox. I really enjoy the Barn and I have learned a lot from reading the Barn. I do not post very often because most of what I know I have learned here and I find no reason to repeat what has already been stated. I know that sometimes the Barn signs me out for no apparent reason, but I always check to make sure I am signed in when something does not work. The message I received was that I could not send a PM because I did not have 10 postings. It just surprised me because I have done this same thing for years without a problem and when a person is trying to respond to an swap offer, timing is important.

Not so sure it's a waste of time. There are lots of scammers that are trying to take folks for a ride. If a scammer were to post 10 times the odds are pretty good that a member or two would see that they are not on the up and up and report it to Ryan and they would be blocked.

I understand about the scammers, but scammers are a way of life. There were scammers before there was an internet, they just had different methods. I appreciate the Barn trying to protect me from myself, but even though I don't post often, I have sent over 50 PMs since I joined the Barn in 2010. I really don't think that just looking at the single parameter of number of posts is not a very efficient way of determining the validity of a participant. Not to mention the annoyance of attempting to do something I have done 50 times before and receiving a form letter type message saying I cannot send PNs unless I post messages. This is the end of my rant. I have registered my objection and I will go back to my quiet introverted self (though I expect I have learned to post an occasional message of encouragement to the poster when I see something I appreciate).

I am brand new on FordBarn and have run up against the 10 post rule before I can PM. Yesterday when I tried to post, it told me my account was not enabled for posting. Ugh! Let me try now....

Got 5 posts now. Let's see if I can get a picture in here while I am learning this software.... Yes. Believe I have. Took 5 tries to get the resolution of the pic down to 800x600. This should be a pic of a 24-stud flathead V8.

Getting more posts now... need 10 before I can contact someone through PM! I am making progress.

How can I make this series of posts a little interesting for anyone so inclined to read these... hmmm.

I have a mystery with the engine pic I just posted. It is a "59A" block. See new picture added! I'm getting good at adding pictures now. Note the size limit must be smaller than 800 x 600 and no larger than 585.9kb for a *.JPG image.

This post-war engine is supposed to be identifiable by 2 belts: one driving the fan and one driving the accessories. This particular engine, however, has the single belt system characteristic of pre-war flat heads. This is a mystery to me.

Could a post-war engine be too long in the front to fit into a 1934 engine compartment? If someone knows it was common to put pre-war belt systems on post-ware 24-stud engines plunked into 1934 Ford compartments, please let me know!

I've now lost track of how many posts I have... but I'm getting this hang of this new software. I do have questions, however. Perhaps I should post some.

What I have posted to date is not even the 1934 Ford project car I mentioned in the first or second post. See new picture. This is the project: 1934 Ford Roadster. It is rough.... but do-able. The second picture is an "SG56" small-block Chevy to early Ford 3-speed transmission adapter. You can see this adapter in the first over-all view of the roadster.

My question: Does anyone out there have experience in fitting a SB Chevy to an early Ford 3-spd using this adapter? Do I use a Chevy or Ford pressure plate? I believe I must use a Chevy flywheel, right. I have found a pilot bearing for a Chevy crank that fits the Ford transmission front end - so I think that part I know about. How do I make this work??

I see lots of "bttt" in people's posts AFTER their first post. I think this means "back-to-the-top" to keep the post refreshed, right? Do people simply reply to their post with "BTTT"?

Anyone reading, thanks for being my guinea pigs as I try out different things on here.

This should make post #9 of 10! Fingers are getting tired... I use the Columbus method of typing: I find a key and land on it! Ha! Get it? Bad one... I know.

LAST post to make 10!!! I have reached the Zenith of my FordBarn experience to date!!

I asked the question about the SG56 SB adapter already. I think I may need some help with that. What other questions....

Oh - wife just came in and said it's time for date night. I promised her dinner tonight. Time to go. The one-way conversation has been STIMULATING!! Well, not really.

If anyone has answers to my questions, they will be appreciated! Later - time to go eat.

THIS SHOULD MAKE 10 POSTS!! Made it.

I can't help you with your questions but will say, "Welcome to the Barn". We would love to see some pictures of your roadster. Also, you may get more help on the Early V8 side of this forum.
