Guide/BLC 6V pigtails/female spade clip for sealed beams
Curious if there is a need to replace the original female spade clips/pigtails inside of a Guide/BLC headlamp when converting to 12V? The original Guide brand 6V sealed beam has the same spade connectors as the replacement 12V units. The 12V ones fit as original. I don't see any reason to change them unless I'm missing something.
Thanks, |

Re: Guide/BLC 6V pigtails/female spade clip for sealed beams
Tim, I'm no electrical expert, but I can't see it being a problem as long as the original wiring is in good shape. Theoretically the wiring should be good for twice as many Watts or Amps when using 12 volts. I assume that as long as the wattage of the 12 volt sealed beam isn't more than twice as much as the original 6v one was that the wiring will be under it's original manufactured load.
What model of Guide/BLC's are you using? Not that it makes any difference, but I've used 12v sealed beams in place of the original 6v in a set of 904-A headlights with no problem. |
