Ceramic finishes

Anyone have experience, good, bad or ugly with the new, so-called ceramic finishes?? All comments and recommendations appreciated.

Yup, Columbia coatings has an air cure coating that I am very happy with. Use it on my Ranchero build. Specific instructions with respect to cleaning, blasting and applying the coating. Cost was very reasonable and one bottle did both manifolds. The pictures are "air drying" and after two 20 minute break-in runs and numerous start and runs for moving around, washing (yes the engine bay) and several test drives. Very happy.

VHT has a high temp engine enamel in rattle cans with ceramic. It gives a nice shine and lasts much longer, but not on exhaust.

There are some specialty ceramic coatings that I'm not familiar with, for exhaust systems. ???

Duplicolor has a rattle can engine paint with ceramic.
Used it on the (updated) 292 in my '55 and it still looks like new after 2k miles.
I put an Eastwood paint product on the exhaust manifolds. The passenger side looks great but the drivers side paint burned off on the top, probably poor surface prep on my part. Sanded it down and repainted it.

Well, guess I should have been more specific and/or clear: I was referring to the ceramic products advertised to protect paint finishes. Some even advertise "never wax again." My apologies for the lack of specificity.

In regards to exhaust manifolds does anyone have any experience with Calyx?

On another site one of the members here had this to say...

"I don't recommend Calyx. I have it on my exhaust manifolds. It always is "wet", does not dry - rubs off on anything that touches it. I would never use it again."

Wizards is a small company I wish was bigger. They make an easy on easy off wax product that shines even through dirt. The car reflects light when clean or dirty. It is expensive, the young man at O'Reiley's told me he knew I would be happy with it. The only reason my O'Reileys carries it is because it is made and packaged in the next small town south of me. Baked enamel and ceramic earthenware will last a long time but the stuff is melted or fired on to give a stone like finish. Anything that is wiped on with an applicator will only last a long time if it stays out of the sun and weather. If it costs a lot more than a good quality wax then I'd be skeptical to it unless it proved to last through what the advertisements state it will. I'm not from Missouri but my Grandmother was.

Well Don I ordered a bottle of Wizards polish and bottle of spray wax tonight. I was about out.
