31 Victoria front seat size?
Hey Guys and Gals,
I'm a newbie to A's and have just acquired a nice older restoration 31 Vicky and am going to change out the old interior..it's in good shape but the wife doesn't like the mohair. I've discovered that the front seats are, in fact, Tudor seats and are not original. The seats are mounted in the floor on pivoting posts and not like the original Victoria seats. Since I'm planning on replacing the interior...I'm wondering if the Tudor seats are the same size as the original Victoria seats so the upholstery would fit either? If not then I'd like to find some original seats..or even just the frame, base and springs of the original seats. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated! Anybody have some old Vicky seats they'd like to part with? Thanks, John Dempsey |

Re: 31 Victoria front seat size?
Before changing out the good mohair, how about just using seat covers over the seats. Upholstery is fairly expensive, and the next owner might like the original mohair.

Re: 31 Victoria front seat size?
John, the seats for a Victoria are very different from those of a Tudor. Then to add to the issue, the seats for the earlier, mostly Leatherback model Victorias differ from the later production, which are predominently Steelback versions. There is overlap between the Deluxe Phaeton for the early style and then between the A400 and the later style Victoria seats. The Victoria Association has lots of good information in some of the past issues relative to the seats. My Victoria, and early Steelback, came with a Tudor seat for the driver, and a Vic seat for the passenger. I'm with Tom on putting seat covers on if the mohair is in good shape.

The Vickie's drivers seat is 1" wider than the passengers seat. The picture is of my unrestored drivers seat

Here's a Victoria/Deluxe Tudor/A-400 seat with original green mohair on it. Note how the back is more curved as well as wider than a normal Tudor Sedan seat.

Re: 31 Victoria front seat size?
John,
I have an original pair of seats. We just bought the car and are not 100% sure whether we are going to use them or not. If you have no other luck in the next week or two, shoot me a PM and maybe I will have a better idea what is happening. |
