Lubricant in new master cylinders
Anybody know what the shipping/packing/assembly lubricant (can't think of a better description) found in a new master cylinder is likely to be? Brake fluid itself would seem like the most logical, but just wondering. I'm replacing my master in my system which has Dot 5 Silicone fluid which apparently should never be mixed with Dot 3,4 or 5.1 in even the smallest amounts. Should I be taking the new master apart and cleaning out good before installing?

I would try to contact the manufacturer, if possible, and ask them if dot 5 silicone is compatible before taking it apart. .
