Re: bendix
It's a facet 480400 but the number has been superseded a number of times. Accurate number is 3-121F (rebuilt) and 4-121F (new).
Buy it from the Model A suppliers as the have reasonable prices. If from a tractor store ask that it is a folo-tru drive (Barrel) as the old spring drive and newer style share the same part number.

Re: bendix
Looks like they are for international tractors http://www.tractorpartsasap.com/Star...s-p/112575.htm
Amazon also has them http://www.amazon.com/Rubber-Cushion.../dp/B0081SBTNU Bob |

Re: bendix
I also use the barrel drive from Snyders. I see that the price for this part has increased by forteen dollars in their newest catalog. The same part was only $24.95 in their 2013 catalog. I just got my new 2014 Brattons catalog today. Brattons listed price for the barrel drive is only $22.30 . The part number for the barrel drive in Brattons catalog is 15961. Brattons has their own part numbering system and may be the same part that Snyders offers. Many times when you order a part you will find that the price is higher than the listed price in the catalog . Its always best and less expensive to buy model A parts from a model A vender than any local source. I was kinda shocked to see the large price jump for this part in Snyders and expect prices to increase across the board.

Brattons used to use the Ford PN numbering system but for some bizarre reason they got a nastygram from a Ford lawyer that made them change. Comparing to other suppliers I don't see that anyone else had to drop the Ford numbers.

Certain Bendix springs need the shims under the end coil, and if they are missing it is more likely to fail at the bolts. I've never had any trouble with an original Bendix and 6 volts. |

Re: bendix
We sell that bendix and ship them in the USA for $5.75. We have found many more ways to use the USPS $5.75 flat rate boxes and padded envelopes and can and do ship now using new software to utilize that inexpensive shipping option for more items.

Re: bendix
Can you use the drive from a newer 390 Ford starter? I have one, I have not yet seen the one on my truck. I am expecting the worst when I pull the starter out.

Re: bendix
If running 12 volts, use the Bendix with 3/8 diameter bolts that I think were on the V8 Ford. The Model A's Bendix has 5/16 diameter bolts that will not survive.
