Default Matching numbers

I have a 1930 coupe that I bought last spring at a nearby swap meet in SC. Such a well preserved car only patch panel is in the rear tire well area. After checking closely all 3 VIN numbers match. The title, engine block and upper rail frame numbers all match. Is it safe to say I have the original engine?

What does the surface of the engine number pad look like?

I took a wire brush and cleaned the numbers. I can't see any stamp over and they look original to me.

I'd have to say yes! I have a 1930 Delux Delivery with matching numbers. It came from the Henry Ford Museum. With a Certification from Benson Research center. It was used for the Audio/visual department around campus. Have you done a background check on ownership yet?

How did you verify the "upper rail frame number"?

Gary, how would one do this? "Have you done a background check on ownership yet?"

You should be able to tell if the original engine number has been ground off and restamped. If the pad has a slightly rough texture matching the rest of the engine it is probably original. If very smooth, then it has probably been restamped. Nice to know but not a big deal. More important is the condition of the engine.
