1933/34 front fender joiner.
I have several front fender joiners 40-16087.
On the top side of each there is a recessed hole with a self tapper screw hole. Are my presumptions right that it is to secure the fender welting in the correct position below the grille? Your presumption is correct. The welting was held in place originally with a binding head self -tapping screw.
