Re: golf club door?
Ronn,
I think you lucked out by missing the winning bid: experimental missing running boards ex. giant hole in front fender ex. missing decklid ex. rear bumpers that don't protect the added bed ex. 29 rear rims on a 30 car ex. "golf door" if your golf bag is 6" square, that would work well think of all the time and money you just saved. there are so many better Model A's out there for sale, be patient. |

Re: golf club door?
I was taught that those fancy doors were not for golf clubs, but access to sweep out the rumble seat area of cars like Auburn, Packard, and Cadillac. Never saw info in sales literature on golf club doors.

Re: golf club door?
I've seen three of them in Bismarck,ND alone. I don't think that they are rare. They have all been on coupes. Maybe they were an aftermarket addition, but the three I have seen look real professional or stock.

Re: golf club door?
A friend had an Old Buick with a LARGER one. Little Kids LOVED them, as a way to get IN & OUT of the RUMBLE, easily.
Can't believe that piece of JUNK sold SO HIGH! Bill W.

Re: golf club door?
yes, I use Snipe when Im serious-I wasnt at all caring on this one-have 20 too many projects here already.
Just thought the door was way cool!!!!!!!! never saw one. BTW- I have extra runningbds, wheels, etc. and figured it would help clean up my yard and garage! (a funny way to look at it I know.......) on the original bid of 4200. or so, think the owner may have bid it up, because it was immediately relisted. |

[IMG][/IMG]
Hard too see but this a photo from 04-01-1960 taken in Springfield, VT however there is a very similar 1931 Model A coupe with a pickup bed. Not the same car as the one mentioned above as it has cowl lights (Deluxe Coupe). The photo is on the University of Vermont (UVM) website and can be found at this link: http://www.uvm.edu/landscape/extensi...eSet=0&AddRel= If you go to the UVM website there is a feature that allows you to blow up the image and the Model A can be seen in much more detail. BTW: In the background of the photo is the Springfield Studebaker-Packard dealership. Not all that uncommon to see older cars serving out the rest of there lives as pickup trucks. It goes to prove the old saying: "Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without" |
