it could be donated to mikes-affordable as I believe they raffle off a car and the proceeds go to a charity. at least I think it works that way with them.

Why not donate it to MAFFI who may be able to use it in an as-found or preservation display??

Do you really think they would be interested being it isn't all fixed up and shiny and if so who would I best contact at MAFFI? Oh and hubby just said that it is original paint. Grandpa lived on the farm with them and it never was repainted.

Click on MAFFI to view their purpose and their mission statement. While I cannot comment regarding would they would accept it, I think there is much going for the car that would make it an attractive gift to them. Preservation is the key word for now, --and for later. Might I suggest that you act quickly because degradation will happen fast if the vehicle is allowed to remain outside in the elements.

If it is as rare as Mike V. Florida said, it MAY be worth more money than you think.

Don't let some one creep away with it with out finding out what it may be worth. Iv'e seen guys do it. They'll say something like" I'll clean all of this junk off of your property simply for the scrap value." Knowing full well there is a valuable vehicle there.

Perhaps a local Model A club.
Good luck.

As Brent said before you must get that car out of the elements. If you donated that car to MAFFI some preservation specialists could install the radiator shell and treat it to some product to keep the finish in a preserved condition. Then when you go to the museum you could see it in it's preserved condition a true piece of history.

Does anyone know who I might speak to up there or who I might I send a link to the pictures for someone to review and see if they might be interested. We know very well this will have to be done quickly as you can see it is on plain ground and that isn't good at all with winter coming on.

I would get it inside ASAP and do not allow the weather to get to it.

The Rose Beige - Seal Brown Blind Back is a 170A. It was my car and they do not have a dome light as in the non-restored one. I do have a early 1930 fordor Town Sedan that foes have the Dome Light. I never compared the measurements of Cowl's but it was always in my mind the Cowl was longer than others (could have been the paint colors that made it seem so) I do know the inside dimensions were the same as the 1930 Town Sedan which was larger than the 1929 fordor sedans. Without me being right there and going over it, I would not feel comfortable at this time as classifying this as a 170A. I sure would be interested in finding out what this really is and I whole hearty agree this should stay within the family as how many are still around that has been in one family for such a long time. I guess I am a nut over such things but could you imagine the feeling one would have in 40 or 50 more years and someone in the family still owned it> WOW!

OK, if you had a 60C parked next to a 170-A, what features are different? I'm guessing the unique 60C aluminum rear top bead is one. Bob

I think, but not positive, that one is LONGER, body wise, than the other.

The 170A is almost the same size as the 3W Fordors made by both Briggs & Murray.
It is larger than the 60A & B Fordors. Briggs actually produced it because it closely matched the dies for the 3W Fdrs , ie. less expensive to set up .
These details are mentioned in that excellent book by DeAngelis & Henry ''Model A as Henry Built It'' which covers all the Fordor Sedans comprehensively.
