Yea pretty much I did, I've met him........I just don't care for how he has done several cars and their owner and told them "yea I gonna keep this in my "Personal" collection!!" and three weeks later its on the auction block at RM or Goodings. Just appears sleazy to me!!! JMO

Nope - top of flywheel housing. Curiously, the block still has the (blank) number pad like A.

Why does that strike you as odd? It merely shows that there has been some sort of procedural or logistical change in the serializing of the individual assemblies while saving huge corporate dollars by not retooling that particular section of the casting fixtures just to get rid of that pad on a portion of the block that remained unchanged during any block updates. On top of that, if the "new" numbering procedure doesn't work-out too well for some reason, that crazy pad is already there to revert back to if needed. Not really too odd after all, huh? DD

They changed it just to confuse us 90 years later.

I have heard Henry got a little mean in his old age.

While there are inconsistencies, it is one of the better shows on TV. You'll learn more stuff about cars you'll never see than you'll see mistakes. Give him credit for being someone dealing with million dollar cars but still shows appreciation for the old Fords. He may actually be helping our niche in the hobby, by maybe inspiring someone to see Model as are affordable.

Maybe he should switch to "groovy" which needs to make a comeback.

(Good post, Rock.)
I use the word 'Groovy' all the time - just because I was around when it was first used and nobody uses it today. A couple other words we used a lot, but aren't used that much anymore are 'Boss' and 'Bitchen'. You occasionally see them used - just not much . . .

May not say 'em out loud; but those terms still come to mind when looking at stuff.

I use "Groovy" too.

It actually pre dates WW2 in US jazz circles.

Anita O'Day uses "groovy" in one of her songs from the ww2 era.

Wow - whole lotta drama over semantics. OK, amended comment:

Wow, a little harsh. If arcane knowledge was the draw, guys like DavidG and Mart would have their own TV shows. Carini is personality, that's why he holds the mike. His time is spent out front, with the people he visits and the suits that produce his show. I've met him at the woodie events, he seemed personable and genuinely interested in what was going on around him. Where he lost me was his Moal-built hot rod "sportster." Neither groovy nor bitchen.

A little off topic but as long as we're discussing TV shows I enjoy Junk Yard Gold.

OKAY......here is my "MAIN" gripe with this post and my one last swat at this "dead horse". Carini's show.....and to a large degree, Carini his self, promote him as a "expert" on "classic cars". He is asked to be an "Expert" judge at "several" high level shows, Amelia Island is one!!! I'm okay with that BUT "IF" I was going to "self promote" that image, I damn well am not going to make that mistake!!! IF you don't know, you don't know, say so!!! BUT A) Don;t "fake" it and B) I've watched his show enough that he's had more than a couple of V8 Fords cross his path and "enough" exposure not to make "that" kind of blunder!!!! FOR AN "EXPERT"

I personally do not know him..therefore I have no business judging his character.
As for the show, I watch it, as apparently all who have posted do.
I appreciate that there are TV shows based on a hobby we all enjoy, albeit not losing sight of the fact that it is entertainment, not necessarily 100% factual, or in some cases even truthful.
We complain that the interest in these old cars is dying out as we are, I can't help but think there may be cases where new interest has been generated because of them.
I, as we all, have the option of watching it or not.
I'm a car guy, I'll watch car shows.

Well, I sure as heck can't speak to his character or honesty.

But I can say without a doubt I would LOVE to make living doing barn finds. And like it or not, apparently there are quite a few people that call him when they are ready to open those barn doors.
