Front Motor Mount with AC
A question to those who have installed AC in their Model A's.
Did you change the front motor mount from the stock yoke to the Float-A-Motor front motor mount? Should there be concern about the added weight of a compressor? Or, could it be I am once again over thinking and being anal..... Thanks for jumping in, stay healthy |

Re: Front Motor Mount with AC
I have original motor mounts on my pickup. Yes, it does have A/C (among other things). Doesn't seem to be a problem.
On another note, I have often wondered if I could put the front FAM mount and still use the stock rear mounts.

Re: Front Motor Mount with AC
I use a dual belt crank pulley (3 1/2") from SOS. Front belt standard Model A. Back belt is standard AC belt (11A1320) and 5 1/2" clutch on compressor.
Remove about 3/8" stock from original front mount.

Re: Front Motor Mount with AC
Like Carl G. I use a stock front motor mount. I have a Ken Davis A/C in my Slant Town Sedan. A/C has been installed since 2010 and no problems with added weight.

Re: Front Motor Mount with AC
I also use the stock Model A front pulley and the stock front motor mount. Never a problem. The extra weight from the Compressor/Alternator mount and the compressor IS NOT A PROBLEM. . Self buuilt kit an am building another for my woody.

Re: Front Motor Mount with AC
It is a Ken Davis unit. Looks and installs the same. It just has the capability of having additional connections for water and serves as a heater in winter. It is really awesome. Only one unit for heat & cold air. It was a little more $$ but well worth it.
