Default Spark Plug Qustion

I have a set of champion 3X spark plugs that were in a box when I got the car. When I look at them they seem to have a set of regular spark plug compression rings on them that are totally flat. In the same box there was a pack of thick rings listed as spark plug compression rings. All the pictures from the model A supply places show these plugs with the thick rings and not the thin flat rings. Before I try these, should I remove the thin flat rings and just use the thick ones. I really like the looks of the 3X plugs, and all the post I have read say they are the best.

I installed a set last week and they only came with the thick rings. These of course are the modern day 3X. Wayne

Same here. Save the thin rings and see if they work for the oil pan drain plug gasket.

Thanks Mitch. The rings in the pack seem to have quite a bit larger inside diameter therefore allowing the rings to move a considerable on the plugs. Is this how they are, and they fit correctly when tightened up.

I'm holding a new plug in my hand.. The ring is concaved so you can screw it onto the plug.. Then once the plug is tightened firmly the ring gets squashed flat and there is very little side play..

Maybe the rings I have are wrong. They look like that one, but you don't have to screw it on. It falls on with plenty of room to spare.
