1929 model A Tudor Frame serial number
Hi all, I own a 1929 Model A Tudor and I know the frame is not original. The frame serial number is strange. It begins with an FB. I know what the F stands for but cannot find anything on where the B comes from or means. Would anyone here know this information? Thank you.

Is it in front of the seat like mine is? If so that is not our SN# but Body # Tells the plant and the number the car came off the line.

Dearborn(Rouge) used f, fd, b, c and d in the body #s. Get Steve Plucker's book on the assembly plants and production of the Model A. What is your gas tank #?

Re: 1929 model A Tudor Frame serial number
That's not a frame cross-member. That is the body cross-member, which is attached to the frame. The serial number is on the frame rail and not on a cross-member. It is found under the support for the cowl. There is no way to get to it except to unbolt the body from the frame and lift it up to get a peek. Don't ask how I know.

Re: 1929 model A Tudor Frame serial number
Pluck, thanks for the information and education. I didn’t realize that crossmember was a body crossmember and not a frame crossmember. Learn something new all the time working on these car. Anyways, not sure I want to go that far to find the original serial number since I know the frame is a replacement and so is the engine. But finally hearing of an assembly plant that used that Code is cool. Thank you.
