Re: gas shutoff
that's the one I got but it is different than the one that I had on my truck. I was hoping that someone might have a picture of the valve assembly installed on a 1931 firewall so that I can see the correct way it should be, Thanks for all of the help.as always

Re: gas shutoff
The above pictured one is on my late 1931 indented fire wall car and works correctly. I have seen various pieces of plumbing on other cars though. I use a spot of PERMATEX NO 2 on the threads that go into the firewall to insure a dry fitting. It never hardens so it can be removed any time.

Re: gas shutoff
The sediment bowl goes on the carburetor.

Re: gas shutoff
Do you mean sediment bowl? It's the glass bowl just be for the rubber fuel line. I put a magnet in the bottom to hold small particles of rust. I would also recommend a screen inside the tank. It's a small brass tube that you put in the shut off valve before you screw it in to the tank. Mac's, Snyder's, Gas light or most suppliers sell them.

Re: gas shutoff
The rubber fuel line is temporary. I plan to put an electric shut off inline. But I don't see it as a fire hazard as it doesn't leak and it's well away from the exhaust manifold.

Re: gas shutoff
okay that clears up a couple of questions apparently I have 1930 sediment bowl mounted on the firewall running down to my carB . that would explain the setup that someone put on there. I guess I need to ditch the glass bowl and get the one that mounts on the carb.

Re: gas shutoff
I certainly agree with Fred and Jeff. Give that setup to somebody you don't like!

Re: gas shutoff
in my limited personal experience I do not recommend "a screen inside the tank. It's a small brass tube that you put in the shut off valve before you screw it in to the tank. Mac's, Snyder's, Gas" because when it gets clogged you have to drain the tank to clean it and if you are on a trip that could be a difficult undertaking. guess how I know... Let the sediment bowl do its job, it is a whole lot easier to clean/change element. Your mileage may vary

Re: gas shutoff
I've never heard of anyone having to clean the small brass screen inside the tank. Should it somehow become clogged, then just blow back in the gas line to the carb. Flushing the tank first should keep the brass screen from becoming clogged.
