Default Found this at the swap meet in French Lick

I found this exhaust whistle at the swap meet in French Lick. I got a really good deal on it, but I'm not sure it is a Model A item. I am curious if anyone has more info on it.

I'm seeing the pix just fine (Firefox) and I can see the whistle "mouth" - but what of that other tube? Is the whistle blown by moving the lever?

It's the by pass. The lever diverts the exhaust from the by pass to the whistle.
As for details specific to this whistle (horn) I have none. The most popular of the day seems to be the Aermore.

Regular exhaust on the right and exhaust whistle on the left. You tie a wire to the lever to switch it back and forth. It should have a spring to return it to regular exhaust.

No, it is not a Model A item. Just one of a thousand accessories that proliferated during the teen/s, twenty's, and thirty's. The Fulton Aermore Exhaust whistle is similar - it sounds like a train whistle. It got me a ticket one night about 3 am. So I removed it, to keep it out of temptation.

I saw something similar at a car show recently. Yours looks like maybe a rear exit pipe whistle. The whistle I saw was located somewhere around his carb. I think on the side of it. It was tapped in between the exhaust manifold flange and the exhaust pipe flange.

Try checking your version of internet explorer (or whatever browser software you're using.)

My home machine is current with IE10 - although I'm now tired of the glitches and use Firefox exclusively.

Here at work we use IE9 - which seems to see the pix just fine.

Hi Dean,
I seems as if Uncle Henry(on your avatar?) is not impressed

Actually it is from a car show where Henry and Edsel are standing in front of an early Fordor .

My son put the Judging Standards in Henry's arms....as if he looked up the correct way to build it using the JS. It is a gentle rib to those, like myself, who enjoy seeing how close they can get their car to follow the clubs' Judging Standards.

Also, I never saw a photo of Ford laughing.

This type of whistle was sold by J C Whitney and perhaps others back in the 1960's, and fits on the tail end of the muffler. Because of its location, there is not nearly the sound created as those whose location is placed/situated before reaching the muffler itself.

That would explain the "double chrome" exhaust tips. You see it so they chrome it. Isn't that what they did in the 1950s-60s?

Agreed that likely an Aermore might give a better sound - but this one would be an easy try.

You might not even have to crawl under the car to install it?
