Default 6 volt group 1 battery

Just replaced my 6 volt group 1 battery with a new one and found out that a lot of suppliers don't stock them any more, found one at Battery plus. Looks like they are being fazed out.

I bought one at Tractor Supply last week for $107.59 including tax with a

one year warranty.

M previous battery, Interstate, only 'lasted' 10 months and had a 6 month warranty.

It is true that many suppliers do not stock 6 volt, but, 6 volt batteries at any auto parts store or Tractor supply type store either are available close by for delivery or can be had . In fact many tractors still in use are 6 volt and you may have an easier time finding one at a farm store. Stores tend to stock what sells and us folks with older 6 volt cars just need to resort at times to ordering and waiting to pick up! 6 Volt Batteries just are now less in production but are still being produced and sold. Some stores just don't want to waste floor space and have one go out of the "selling life cycle" on a shelf! Many manufactures require and provide a "sales life cycle" and once the battery passes that point, they get pulled and sold on a back door market system with labels removed and no warranty.

Considering almost every manufacturer converted to 12v in the mid 50s I think it's impressive that you can still walk into some parts stores and pick up a 6v battery at all.

Try O”Reilly’s. I get two or three a month no problem. One in a while might have to wait until the next day for delivery.

Rural King is the place to go. When I go in they usually ask me what kind of tractor I have.

Always have had good luck with F and F batteries, keep them charged and check level once in a while. Last one I replaced had lasted 5 years.

One issue is F and F is a Regional Farm Supply Store in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa and Michigan., batteries typically are not shipped so may not available everywhere.

Many places still have them. I just recently bought one at Tractor Supply and it was made only a month before I bought it. Not bad!
