Installation order of horn rod, spring, spyder in canister
There are register grooves in the harness cover canister. What is the correct order and position to install the "Spyder", spring, brass contact plate in the canister? I have the "retainer" clip and the tool for compressing the spyder but it can rotate 360 to the end of the harness. Is dialectic grease in order here? Is it "Spyder" or "Spider"?

Re: Installation order of horn rod, spring, spyder in canister
Thank you all for the reply. I guess I didn't explain my problem well. The brass contact plate has two slots and three contact bumps the form a triangle. These items will rotate to positions in a 360 degree rotation. I have a "Mechanics Handbook" but it (and the posts) don't show the orientation of the above plate and spider. The canister and harness plate all are registered but not the above mentioned spider and brass plate.

If installed properly i.e.,the headlight lever at 6:00, the spider projections at 6:00 & 12:00, the 2 slots on the contact plate should be at 6:00 &12:00 to allow the spider projections to fit in them.

MAG gave a good answer. If you do not have a helper to hold the horn rod, I always use a wire-tie to the spoke on the steering wheel. When done, I simply cut it off.

...or a yardstick threaded thru from the underside of the steering wheel rim across and over the top of the horn button and across to the underside of the rim on the opposite side. Both methods of the tie-wrap or yardstick are, good, quick and easy.
