Default "pops" 1932 Ford coupe

Heard about my dads first car many times over the years but unfortunately he had no pictures of it. He bought it in December of 1946 when he was just a 16 year old, a 32 coupe. While going through many family photos and papers at my sisters last weekend I found the invoice for that car that he had saved for all these years as well as papers for his first new car(a 53 Dodge). Meant a lot to him then and it means a lot to me now.

Nice story Gary. So did your Fathers '32 coupe cost $2.75 or $275.00 in '46 ?

Using magnifying glass it says $275.00 , seems high given the age when bought but he was 16 and maybe not as careful with money as later in life(ask me how I know!). I don't think it worked out for him as I also have a sales receipt for a Dodge he bought used in 1949. But he still loved that first car like probably all of us.

Well, it was after the war, when there was a great demand for cars. That could help explain it.

Also, it says that $275 as "On Acct". Perhaps he paid even more!

Great story!..... Good for you.... that belongs in a frame for sure...My Dad often told the story that his first and only brand new car when he got home from the war was a '46 Plymouth..." still had the paper on the bumpers" he would say. Nowadays the bumpers are made out of recycled paper. Great find!... Mark

Dad's 32 3 window. Tail pipe hanger not so good but he was a spiffy dresser. I like the club plaque ROAD REBELS.

My dad bought a Model A for $100 in 1941. After service in the Army in Europe he returned home and sold it in 1946 for the same price.
