battery size -36 cabriolet
I have the body off my 36 cabriolet, and have just lowered in the engine and need to buy a battery. I'm keeping it a 6V. Any suggestions for a battery source, and what is the maximum height the battery can be withour hitting the floor pan??? Thanks Bruce

Re: battery size -36 cabriolet
i bought a Decka battery for my 36 pickup it's a group 2, i let a friend use it for his cabriolet, it was to tall but the with and length was good. people will say a optma battery is good also but i paid about 65 bucks for my battery. it works good for me. Brendan

I would suggest an optima, you can lay it down turn it upside down or on an angle & it will not corrode & will last a long time. ( I have three, two 6 volt & 1 twelve.)

Re: battery size -36 cabriolet
The original size lead acid battery is a group 2LF. They are available from a limited source. I bought an Optima for my '35 fordor three years ago. I like the idea of having a no maintenance battery in the difficult to get to under the floor location. I paid $125.00 that included shipping for my last Optima. The correct size lead acid from Antique Batteries was over twice that amount and went bad in a few years. I'm planning to buy another Optima (or equivalent) for my Avatar pictured coupe.
Pictures of Optima battery mounted in stock '35 battery location that required no changes. Also pictures of a 2LF script battery from Antique Auto Battery in Hudson, Ohio

Re: battery size -36 cabriolet
Bruce, I have posted several pictures: One shows the correct 2LF battery and dimensions for an original OEM Ford battery for your 36 Cabriolet. The battery shown by JM and supplied by Antique Auto Battery will fit under the floor but is not correct for your 36.
The second photo shows a special floor cover plate being made by Larry Cossar of New Hampshire [email protected] that accommodates a taller more common 6v battery. You will have a bump in your floor, but you won't have to modify your battery frame support. |
