Body Wood for 54A
Obviously after the fire, all the wood in my car is gone. So, I could make some from scratch, but I would rather start with a kit if possible.
Here is the trouble, I haven't found any kits for the 54A. So, which is the closest to it? 1) Sport Coupe? 2) Special Coupe? 3) Standard Coupe? I suspect the Sport Coupe would be the closest of the bunch, but I want to make sure as the cost difference is about $300.00...

Re: Body Wood for 54A
I'm pretty sure Classic Wood offers a kit for the Business Coupe, which out of the three you listed would be closest to the Sport.
You know, ...I have never said anything to you about this but my hat is off to you for trying to salvage your Dad's car but jeez, I sure wish you luck when it comes to working that sheetmetal. I have never been able to get any "heat-traumaed" metal to respond to metalworking afterwards. Again, I will be watching with great interest on your progress. Good luck and Best Wishes!! |

Re: Body Wood for 54A
My intention is to re-heat trauma the metal back into shape.

Re: Body Wood for 54A
Ron,
You are fortunate that your car is a '28, as the later business coupe with the oval window is not as close to a sport coupe. On those cars the angled bow is much shorter down the sides where the metal brackets and frames for the windows would interfere. Will also be watching your progress as well, since I have a Feb '29 B-coupe. These are the same style as the 28's. |

I will be, and am, documenting the entire build at http://www.restoreyourmodela.com where I will have lots of pictures and info on the build as it progresses.
