Mohair Upholstery Material.
I am trying to get the materials together to do the interior on my '34 2-Dr sedan.
I purchased a kit from LB but never received the order and lost my deposit when they went under. I have enough remnants from previous builds to ALMOST do the interior. Does anyone have a source for the Lebaron Bonney 30-2 Rose Beige Mohair ? I need about a yard to finish the front seats. I did finally receive the upholstery samples from Cartouche but they do not offer anything close to the rose beige mohair. Thank you in advance for any suggestions or references. |

Try Hirsch as they offer various mohair fabrics.

Try Classtique Upholstery. When I bought a kit from them 7-8 years ago, they told me that their fabric was supplied from L-B.

SMS has not been into the early materials either. They will have to get into that line to sustain early Ford kit build up. Most of their stuff is for the later 50s & 60s models. I've purchased 49/51 Mercury stuff from them but availability is spotty. |

Re: Mohair Upholstery Material.
I spoke with Jeff at Hirsch, it turns out that Lebaron Bonney purchased the material from Hirsch so they will be able to supply enough to finish the car.
Jeff Hirsch was also able to provide some references for other missing items like the sun visors, etc.(Acme in Calif). I appreciate all the help provided by David G. and others. Last edited by 95476; 05-09-2019 at 12:11 PM. |

Lee Atherton, Lebaron Bonney original owner, showed and told me about the extensive effort it was to locate old materials, one Saturday morning years ago. Much of his material at the time in the 1970's was from England.
I just did a search on Google with several hits. It may be worth your effort. https://www.google.com/search?client...terial+england |

Re: Mohair Upholstery Material.
Wool and wool blend cloth has been an English staple for well more than a century so it doesn't surprise me about that source. Angora goat wool is still produced here in the US (quit a bit here in Texas) but I don't know where it is sent for processing into cloth. There are some woolen mills in the US but there are foreign ones as well. Fine English and Italian suits are likely made from wool produced in these respective countries or from other sources like Australia or New Zealand. Mohair is made from finer angora goat wool.
