1939 shift lever, any other year(s) fit?
My 1939 transmission is missing it's shift lever. As I search for it other shift levers present themselves. Are there other years that would fit? Any advice ? Thanks for your help.

'36-37 single curve will work, '38-39 "S" curve will work, F1 straight lever with single bend will work. '32-35 have some attractive levers but the stub is too short.
Take a look here (will need to scroll down a little) for pics and some more info: http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/f...ed-options.htm Will Kimble |

The '36--1952 levers are all identifiable by measuring 4 7/8" from top of pivot to extreme lower end. All will fit your trans, but which will fit the limits set by dashboard and seat is another question.
'32-5 measure 4 1/8 down there. |

If you need a lever does the trans sleeve on 2nd and 3 rd gear have a 3" slot.If its a real 39 you need a 3" fork. There is a whole trans on the bay now.The lever is longer then others.

Mac VanPelt has the new 91A type shift forks. A fellow named Hot Rod John make a stainless reproduction of the shift lever & sells them on Flee-pay but its straight up & down. They can be bent to resemble any of the different type used over the years.

The trucks with the 3 speeds have the floor shift tops, from 1942 to 1952 with the 3 inch forks. The best thing to do is get the early ones car from 35 -38 and drive it with care no clutch popping. |

Thanks for the offer but i'm not the guy looking or asking questions. When i was looking for a trans couldn,t, find one around here opendrive, bougth 2 junks on the bay.I remember as a kid changing gears afther poping the clutch, many times.Afther i found out you can put a c4 behind a flathead thats what i did and sure do like the out come, smooth and quite. Ever go to bonny eagle show.
