Default Does anyone make 32-34 brake drums?

Howdy y'all, it's Sunny from the A side of things, I have a specific question regarding 32-34 drums. does anyone make a drum that will work with a stock '34 passenger car? I know A drums are too small to fit but I am curious if anyone has good repo drums. I might be interested in a 34 fordor that is pretty much all stock and I want to make it as close to how Henry intended. no juice brakes for me. I am willing to use a slightly different drum than original, but if anyone knows someone who makes em or if someone knows how to put A drums and backing plates on a Model 40, let me know. thanks for your time and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Haven't heard of anybody repoping these early drums.

Since you can bolt '32-'34 brakes on a Model A as an upgrade; it seems to reason you could go the other way around. Not that it would be a good idea.

You should be able to find usable '32-'34 drums* with a little looking and if you can't for some reason you could always step up and have that place reline the original '34 drums.

*I just scrapped a pile of good '32 & '34 brakes because nobody seemed to want them or were willing to pay shipping if they did.

You do not want to put "A" brakes on a 34. The emergency brake, among other things, is completely different and if you want to remain "Henry" correct you would be going backwards. J and G brakes in McHenry Ill will reline your original drums with cast iron sleeves and reline your shoes with semi-metallic composite for a higher coefficient of friction. They will also arch the shoes to match the drums. Well worth the effort and expense.

Interesting, relining drums? I've heard it all now. I wonder if they would do A drums as well as I have some good steel a drums that are too nice to scrap but too worn to safely use. as far as brake shoes stock is fine for me as I don't drive faster than 45-50 in any car, so woven linings are fine. the drums are the big deciding factor for me regarding a potential model 40 purchase. I wont budge on keeping it as close to how Henry made it, only reason for swapping to A brakes is parts availability as a last resort.

I wouldn't bother relining steel A drums since new cast iron drums are available and are a much better performer.

And it doesn’t solve the real issue with steel drums, expanding with the heat buildup. Plus, cast iron and steel expand at different rates.

Throw the steel drums out after you remove the hubs from the drums.

Keep your ears open for a hydraulic conversion being done to a 32-34 Ford and ask for the removed parts. I ended up with two complete mechanical brake systems for 32 Fords that way.
