Re: Ford Model A Coolant Overflow Tank
Do these not require a pressurized system to work the way they're meant to?

Re: Ford Model A Coolant Overflow Tank
Hallo Randy.
No, it's an open, depressurized cylinder. One drainage tube from the bottom and one to the top for pressure equalization. You don't must to have it. But it looks nice and interesting.

Re: Ford Model A Coolant Overflow Tank
I installed something similar on my latest car and it works a treat - much better than the nice chromed jobs we see advertised. I can't understand why you got rid of it unless you want everything "original".[/QUOTE]
Hi Synchro. I've purchased the flash chrome slim cylinder. It looks great but I don't know how or where to attach it. I'd like a photo of the one you have used or improvised please. I like your signature at the bottom of your posts re health and wealth. I'd even vouch for its authenticity.

Re: Ford Model A Coolant Overflow Tank
Guten Tag!
The overflow cylinder has now been installed. I riveted it with a square tube against the radiator mask. Looks very nice!

Re: Ford Model A Coolant Overflow Tank
So with an overflow tank on a non pressurised system , once the bottle is full it simply overflows on to the pavement. To me an overflow tank on a non pressurised system seems pointless , apart from looks. I suppose it could return to a non pressurised system as long as the overflow pipe in the radiator was submerged. What is the trick to getting say a 4lb pressurised cap on an A so in fact when it cools it will actually return to the radiator .

But you're right: my main joy is that it looks great too.
