Re: Wtf???
Speaking of anti-theft. When I drive a V8 locally and park it. I leave the keys in the switch. I've been asked if I'm afraid anyone will steal it? Find someone who can drive a manual and the "On/Off" switch throws most of my passengers off.

Re: Wtf???
I'm looking for used overdrive unit for my 68 CJ5 so I can get it out more. Moved closer to town and people will run over you doing 45 in a 45 zone.

Re: Wtf???
I'm like Seth, I always leave the keys in the ignition. Anyone that doesn't know old fords, first thing they do is turn the key; they've just locked the car! And the floor mounted starter button looks like the dip switch...

Re: Wtf???
I worked for a trucking company that had 2 kw's with 4cyl gmc, 4speed main box, 4 speed aux, and a 2 speed rear. If you skipped a gear, you had to go back and get it.
They had no front brakes. They also had a Sterling chain drive truck. This was middle 1960's Bruce

Re: Wtf???
Back in my early days when you did whatever the boss told you no questions asked, the boss says take that jeep out and plow the sidewalk and drive. It had a blade so a pto and looked like the levers pictured. This was at a creamery on main street, all paved from building to street. I didn't hit anything, but talk about a steep learning curve. It was the only time I have ever driven a Jeep. He did the same thing on an old 4cyl gas fork truck, when you get that pallet full go over and grab the fork truck, stack load and get another pallet. Then I started driving 13 speeds with splitters. Never wanted a Jeep though.

Re: Wtf???
When I was a lot younger man I had occasion to drive a rig with a 10-speed transmission and I became ather proficient at it, shifting without using the clutch and all. But one day I had the opportunity to ride with "an old timer" who was driving an old Mac with a Tri-Plex transmission. His mastery of those three shift levers amazed me as he sometimes used both hands to shift the levers, hooking one arm in the spokes of the steering wheel to guide the truck! He made it look effortless but it was more than that.
