Default powerhouse generator

The Mounting flange on my powerhouse generator broke recently and in the process caused a small hole in my radiator. No problem I'll replace the bracket with a new one, fix the radiator hole and pretend all is well. 1st pictures on line show the gen. bracket is held on with three flathead screws. Pictures of my gen look like it is riveted on. My car is an early canadian tudor, so i'm wondering if the generator I have is different the the american version. Any suggestions as how I can resolve this problem The powerhouse generator is working perfectly, so I do not wish to throw it away. I was unable to post the pictures because of some security issues !!!!

My Powerhouse generator (3 Brush) has a large mounting flange at the bottom where it bolts to the mounting on the motor. This is part of the cast housing of the generator. There is another bracket that is bolted to the side of the generator that has a hole in which a bolt goes in to attach to a tensioning bracket.

This generator has only one mounting bracket which is bolted to the engine. Tensioning is done by simply applying torque to the generator and tightening the one large bolt.

I suspect that is why it failed. You need the other bracket as discussed above.

You don't need the tension bracket, which was used until late 1928. The Canadian powerhouse has a thicker, larger outside diameter case, but all the internals are the same as the U.S. powerhouse. I've seem someone rivet the mounting bracket also, but I ground off the rivets and used the correct slotted flat head screws.

I'm sure I posted pictures of this in the past.

If you are going to Ken's swap meet on Saturday August 25th, any needed parts may show up.

Thank you Tom, thats exactly what I needed to know. I probably will have to tap the holes for the correct FH screws
