Hi all,

I'm trying to hook up my Accelerator Linkage to the firewall, however it's not making sense to me. I've got the spring on. Where the spring goes on the bell looking spacer. Does this connect to the firewall? (It looks as though it is to make space between to connecting rod and the firewall) but, bolt is not long enough to go through the firewall. Any help is much appreciated.

Not sure about the 1945 but on my 1948 F2 the bell shaped part goes inside
the cab and helps hold the firewall insulation.

The "bell shaped" part is really a spacer for the firewall cover. The "top" of the bell is inserted into the hole in the firewall cover so it bottoms out against the firewall to where the "top" of the bell is flush up against the metal firewall. Thus, only a very short bolt is required to go through the equivalent of two pieces of sheet metal.
