Default '41 specific questions

Hi, this is my first post on Early V8 and I hope this doesn't sound like a what kind of oil do I use in my Model A? question.

As of this weekend, I am a proud V8 owner once again. I now own a '41 Super Deluxe Fordor. It runs but there's a few silly things like horn, gauges, and charging system that need my attention. Currently the car has an 8 volt battery installed which I plan to restore to 6 Volts. The previous owner left some boxes of new and used parts in the trunk and noted I should go to Mac's because they have everything.

So, that leads me to books. I've held on to the 41-48 service bulletins and the Ray Miller book but I'm guessing newer more detailed publications are out there.

What books would you recommend for someone wishing to maintain and revert a '41 car back to it's original condition?

Thanks, Tom Miller

...The 41-48 Service Bulletins are good to have....

They go well with the Ford Master Parts Manuals
Which are probably (all) available on cd thru epay.

Also, Things like the Green Bible are also a treasure trove of information.

And You've already mentioned Mac's,
Their catalogs are fantastic in that they are illustrated so it allows
you to see the differences between the same part
as it developed over the years.

It is also handy for identify the part that you may have
in your hand or more specifically,
the part you are missing/need.

Pictures are worth a thousand words
and when they are supplied with the Ford Part Numbers,
as is the case with all the above mentioned
top notch reference materials,
You will equip yourself with the
necessary ammunition to move forward for years to come.

..Personally, I deal with all years and models
so I have purchased all available Ford Master Parts Catalogs (CD's)
over the years (about 65,000? pages) as well as have many more
on paper and in binder form not to mention Microfiche..

The above list is whats currently available for Digitized Ford Master Parts Catalogs,
Most of the above sets were originally available from Ford as 2 part series
(on paper and on microfiche).
-That is to say Book 1 (of each set) was part numbers and Book 2 would be accompanying illustrations etc.
And you would use both in conjunction with each other as they are complimentary.

Over Time, A guy can pick and choose sets from the list and purchase as necessary (epay)...

...A good Ford based Reference Library for your particular years is a necessity

The V-8 Club of America offers a great book that covers 1941 thru 1948 Fords. It is available thru the club and I would recommend joining if you are not a member.

Thanks Gents. I ordered the V8 book and a back issue. I'll be looking over the Forel Publishing CDs more tonight.
