Default Marvel Mystery Oil

Is anyone adding Marvel Mystery Oil to the coolant in their radiator? If so, how much? I have heard that it keeps rust down and lubricates the water pump.

I've heard of using MMO in the oil and gas tank but never in the radiator. IMO there are better commercial water pump lubricants but that's JMO.

Buy waterpump lube for radiators and use that in the radiator.

I bet it would work as a rust inhibitor, just wonder if it would do anything to the rubber hoses? Regular oil would attack the hoses eventually, not sure about Marvel Mystery Oil though.

Do not use MMO in the radiator. Use a water pump lubricant or water soluble oil.

Don’t think it would mix with water, if your using ant-freeze why would you add it

Dad always said MMO would fix anything from a Ferris Wheel to a Broken Heart.... but this is a new one for me. I too am wondering how it would react with antifreeze.

Hi Nick,

MMO is a thin white oil with detergents. It is not soluble in water. When it comes in contact with glycol (radiator antifreeze) it will result in muddy breakdowns. Ergo: Yes for the gas tank, never in the radiator!

Never put MMO in the radiator. Distilled water & soluble oil. Or coolant if
you choose. I only put some MMO in the gas tank to give it a light coat
of oil to help keep rust at bay.
