Default 42-47 truck front fender brackets?

Fellas,

I searched the forums and I don't come up with anything on this...did the 42-47 trucks have any kind of front or rear brackets? My front clip does not have any and I'm trying to picture how it gets mounted to the cab and frame. Typically there is a front bracket that bolts to the radiator U-mount on other trucks I've seen. Some (Dodges) have a rear bracket on the cab too. Does anyone have a sheet metal diagram by chance?

That is a great help Sunshine as at least I know I need to search out more missing parts. If anyone has a part number, sketch or nomenclature on the front bracket I would be extremely grateful!

The inner fenders bolt to the radiator core support and the frame. The fenders bolt to the inner fenders, the nose piece, splash pan and the running boards. There is a small flat metal bracket that goes from the frame to the bottom front of the fender to keep the flexing under control. Hope this picture helps.

I just dismantled a low mileage 47 2 months ago and I'm having a hard time visualizing the front fender brace you describe. The only brace on the front that I recall was this.

Willow Billy,
The bracket you show is the one up the top of the fender area, bolts to the radiator support and the front panel, yes?
Like you, my pickup (1942) had no other brace for the front fenders. One for the rear fenders, but none for the front.
Martin.

Oh no...I definitely do not have a set of Willowbilly's brackets in the parts I got with the truck. Anyone happen to have an exploded schematic with parts numbers they could post to help us? Sounds like a few others are in the same boat.
Great photo D Jones! Your truck looks fantastic. I don't see that bracket in the photo, but it is still very helpful to see yours going back together!!! Man I'm jealous!

Hi all,

I’m to figure how these connect. Do they go on before the fender or can they go on after?

I’m trying to figure out where these (see the picture below) go. A picture is worth a thousand word. But…. :-)

Just in case someone else needs help figuring where exactly these go. Make sure you put these on before the fenders go on.

I have four jailbar trucks and I still get confused by the pile of small parts that are left over when I assemble the front sheet metal. I would love to save this thread as a great reference! That rear fender brace is rarely intact as it catches all the mud and salt . I have found that a galvanized strap on power pole cross-arms can be easily bent with a bit of heat to create a new and basically permanent fender brace. And they already have a 3/8" hole at each end!

Will, were there coil springs with those brackets? From memory seems like A spring and long castelated bolt at one end?
