Default Choke rod 1939 Ford

While working on my choke rod in my 1939 ford the portion of the rod that attaches to the dash choke lever the rod came unattached . My question do you just press the rod back into the coupler or is some other step required . Thanks Believe I have figured it out , rotate rod 90 degrees and insert into collar .
