What's your Instagram?

Sounds like a great trip. If you're passing through Las Vegas and need service, hmu.

I agree with Ray. Many current drivers are not observant of hand signals for making turns. They tend to be watching the rear of your car. Assuming some drivers will follow you too close, they may not be able to see your arm when signaling. Bright turn signals and the third light in the rear window may save you from a serious accident.

My wife and I have traveled many miles in two of our Model A's. Most of the miles have been safe but there are always perils while on the road.

Your trip sounds like a great adventure! I wish you safe travels.

We have link to a travel blog of our Route 66 trip taken in 2013. If you are interested in viewing it, click on Dave in MN just above the picture of our Phaeton, then select "View Public Profile". You will find a link near the bottom of the profile to view the blog.

Wow! Thank you all so much for the gracious comments! As Diomed already noted, the song is a remix of April Showers, which I thought was a nice combination of the 1920s with a modern beat!

@rivcokid Thank you so much for the offer! If we are in your neck of the woods, I will be sure to let you know! And I really like the idea of the LED brake lights in the rear window - I will look into that. I do have an extra tail light for the right fender, but I did not install it yet, and I plan on putting on turn signals!

Has anyone had any luck with the halogen bulb upgrade for the headlights? I have the high output alternator and was considering buying the conversion kit so I have better lights for night driving.

I'm dropping off the engine this weekend to get rebuilt by Joe Bell out in Ohio, so that will most certainly help to remove some worry of breakdown during the trip!

I don't have the Instagram set up yet, but hopefully, I will have it ready to go by this coming week. I do have a YouTube channel started, which can be reached and followed under the name: Model A Touring Adventures

Thanks! - Nick

This is a controversial topic, but many folks here favor LED lighting because of its long life and low amperage. However, very important to aim your headlight fixtures before setting off.

A few years ago someone did the old national trail road and came thru Illinois in a model T, he stop in Vandalia,Il at a museum and gave a talk. Yep he was late arriving, and late leaving, so be flexible on your time and enjoy! After a couple of hours in a modern I'am beat, my last long trip was 5 hours to pick up model A parts first come first served had to get a motel room on the way back.

If you've never driven across the Mojave in the middle of a summer heat wave, you may be in for a big surprise. Be prepared to carry 3 gallons of water and start early....

Can you give us some of your background? Why the journey? Why a Model A? What is your profession? Who is going with you? A brother, friend or maybe wife?
Thanks for posting...I will watch your videos.

My wife and I drove from Illinois to Glacier park in Montana. A 4,000 mile trip.
We enjoyed every minute. We took our 30 Tudor with overdrive and hydraulic brakes. No breakdowns. Had to adjust front wheel bearing. This was in 2011.

We thought of doing it again this year, but decided not to.

Good luck on your trip.

John
