Re: Bill Williamson?
Bill Williamson is a very important part of this site. His knowledge mixed with his humour are exactly what this site needs more of. In my opinion he is the premier member of Fordbarn ! He is kind of the mayor that everyone looks up to !

Re: Bill Williamson?
He is our "quirky uncle" and his stuff is great. The dog and his memories of his dad are a plus.

Re: Bill Williamson?
Sometimes Bill leaves me scratching my head, but I don't really notice much, I do a lot of scratchin' in general. Possibly electronic dog fleas from Buster T comments.

Re: Bill Williamson?
Hmmm. we do have some similarities. Both worked as Ford mechanics, both master auto technicians, both been playing with model A Fords for decades. I guess some would call me quirky as well.

Re: Bill Williamson?
I've read Bills posts since day one . Chief was Bills dad, Buster T is Bills rat terrier. Bill also has a ghost that sometimes posts and Bill warns that he has no control over what the ghost says. I enjoy his humor and common sense approach on technical stuff.

I can't believe nobody has stated that Minerva is the Early 30 Standard Coupe.
And what about Vermin? Bill, keep it up, you and your attitude on life is an inspiration.

What is it Buster T? What's wrong. Did Bill fall in to the well?
Maybe someone should call and check on him. Maybe he and chief are both ROTFLTAO

I like Bill too - sounds like a real character He maybe grates some people. Who cares. I don't. He probably doesn't Those who take life too seriously often miss most of it anyway.

Re: Bill Williamson?
EVERY community has it's "local flavor."
Perfect example. The TV series "Petticoat Junction" which was situated next to the community Hooterville. Hooterville even merits it's own Wikipedia entry. AMAZING the specific history that this imaginary place has developed. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hooterville I have to say "Uncle Joe" (Edgar Buchanon) comes to mind when I think of Bill. It may be all an act. Bill's "screen persona." He's probably sharp as a tack, wealthy beyond Croesus, and works as a consultant to companies like 3M, Delta Airlines, Consolidated Edison, the Pentagon. Still a refreshing interlude. I want to live in Hooterville. Joe K

Re: Bill Williamson?
Alot of the informative posters have taken a break and/or left because of nonsense like this. Even though I'm not on the same level as Marco and the others, I don't check in here as much as I used to because of it.
Silly stupid posts with typing dogs and so forth are alot like liquor. Doing it in moderation goes a long way. Or maybe the liquor creates the schizophrenic posts? About 2% are funny, the other 98 percent are incomprehensible to me. |

Re: Bill Williamson?
I enjoy Bill's posts immensely. I tend to gravitate to his comments or threads...hope to meet him this summer as my family and I drive through the Mayor's California town.

Re: Bill Williamson?
Chief, my dad, was my mentor & inspiration, he acquired his skills by guess & by golly while doodling mainly with "T" Models, but NEVER developed a love for those cantankerous old buckets. He thought the "A"s were the car of the future! In later years, down at the end of the road in S.E. Oklahoma, he'd buy all kinds of abandoned cars, along with some old bootlegger's parts stash & whatever, and "BUILD" some really good old "A"s to sell, so we could eat.
Chief wasn't real refined, only had an 8th grade education, but had great common sense & almost an inborn sense of mechanical knowledge, along with an amazing memory. His Buddy owned the Ford Dealership & he worked there part time & also worked for and learned electrical from Buddy # 2, Burrel Terrell, in his auto electrical shop, & learned From Buddy # 3, next door at Orville Mannings Radiator Shop. I don't put Chief on a pedestal, but he was my "MAIN MAN", taught me to be TOUGH after I was zapped with Polio in '37 & always would say, "You CAN do it, You Can do it"!! If I could type, I could write a book about that HARD working Man! Bill W. By the way, who's Croeasus????

Agreed the board can be too chatty. But it also can be too technical too. A happy medium is best to attract the widest participation - and this is what all of us hope. I've used my "party" example before. Small parties are ok. Larger parties are better. Too bad Marco may be giving it a rest. He is definitely an asset to the board when he is here. Maybe he's not giving it a rest for reasons of Bill exclusively? Marco has made Model A a life's work. I imagine like everyone else with a few miles behind the wheel, he gets tired of people asking about what's that slotted head screw found just below the valve cover? You can only go through the oil pump/gauge explanation a few times before the charm of assistance to others goes out of it. Poster above says it for me: "Those who take life too seriously often miss most of it anyway." Edit for Bill above. (from Wikipedia - Croesus) In Greek and Persian cultures the name of Croesus became a synonym for a wealthy man. Croesus' wealth remained proverbial beyond classical antiquity: in English, expressions such as "rich as Croesus" or "richer than Croesus" are used to indicate great wealth to this day. The earliest known such usage in English was John Gower's in Confessio amantis (1390) Also considered the originator of standardized gold coins. Joe K
