Default Optima Battery question

I have an old Optima [2002] 6 volt that I have kept recharged over the years with a "battery tender". I am now getting a clear liquid leaking from around both posts. It does not appear to be acid. What is the liquid and does this mean that the battery is giving up the ghost?

I would ask Optima that question. Sounds like acid to me. Can you do a ph test?
