Default Tech: Axle ratio check.

Picked up an early Ford axle yesterday, from a UK built Ford Pilot. I thought I'd make a little video showing how easy it is to check the ratio.

The other hub is locked - it does not turn. When I refer to Mole grips - that's the UK equivalent of Vise grips.

I checked and this UK axle does not have numbers stamped on the web. Even if it did have numbers, I would do a sanity check to see if the actual ratio matches the numbers.

Please note the technique is valid for any axle with a non posi diff.

Mart.

PS Those familiar with a 35/36 axle will note the similarity between the Pilot axle and the 35-6. Obvious difference is the jacks fitted to the pilot axle, (the front has them too) and the raduis arms, though similar are dropped slightly. Other than the torque tube being slightly shorter due to the Pilot's shorter wheelbase, the axle is similar.
