Value of a 46 Lincoln?
What is the worth of a 46 Lincoln V-12 four door sedan, maroon, very clean and straight, rust free? I can't find a clue as to what they go for. Thanks! James

Check the Post War Cars for Sale on the Lincoln Zephyr Owners Club website at: www.LZOC.org. that should give you some idea.

Well, certainly you had to purchase it for "some" price....as a starting point figure......? They surely ain't the prettiest thing to ever run down the road. DD

Re: Value of a 46 Lincoln?
Probably not as much as you would think. The value is in the running gear. This is just my two cents worth of course.

I guess with that Texas OC law, it's shoot first and shoot often?

Re: Value of a 46 Lincoln?
There's usually one or two for sale on ebay. If a fixed price/best offer is posted, very rarely are the prices met. If its up for bid, at best, bidders usually only bid up to the lowest NADA value. Also, as one dealer admitted to me, the owners/dealers often post their specific cars on eBay just to generate interest in a car without any serious intent to sell there.

Its worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it since it is a low volume limited market vehicle.

Re: Value of a 46 Lincoln?
AJOHN didn't mention running. A most important consideration. It usually takes a super example of a four door, which takes big money to restore, to get any attention other than a plasma cutter. Nowdays things have changed and the engine gets more attention than the trans did a decade ago. We have the T5 to blame for that shift. The rear brakes bring a few bucks for replacing the Lockheeds. The fronts, not so much. Various components would be welcome to the Zephyr restorers. These things and more hold down the value of a complete car as a car.
In the case of a '40 Ford coupe which I feel is an arguable comparison to the Zephyr, I have sacrificed a couple of fordors to bring coupes back to life. My current '40 coupe enjoys new potential due to an organ donor Fordor. Good Luck: Fred A |

Re: Value of a 46 Lincoln?
Excellent examples either restored or original seldom bring more than $15,000 if they can muster that. It seems that lately the Lincolns both Zephyrs or Continentals aren't bringing much money. I see Zephyr convertibles no higher than $40,000 and the same for the Continentals. Just a few years back they were bringing $50,000 +. I think that the buyers for older cars is drying up and it's the newer muscle cars that are in demand. 8 years ago I sold a '48 Continental convertible for $50,000. Today I would be hard pressed to get $40,000. I have a nice '48 Zephyr convertible that seems to have no appeal to buyers. It has won several Best of Show Awards and scored 96 points at a National LCOC Eastern Show. I guess no one appreciates the V 12s.
